Welcome

Dear Friends,

Sacred Heart School has a long tradition of generations of families choosing the parish school as a place for the beginning of their child(ren)’s education. Sacred Heart Parish was founded in 1838 by Father Ferdinand Helias. The earliest parishioners from Bavaria, Germany, were firm believers of the Catholic faith, a faith that has been a “rich fountain” of encouragement and inspiration up to the present generation.

Early records state that the first school was built in 1844. This small log school was the first educational structure in Osage County. A new limestone building was built in 1904 and lessons were first taught in English and German. Prior to this time English had been taught as a second language. In 1952 the parish took over the operation of the school and the district school became Sacred Heart School. In 1965 the present brick school was built just south of the old limestone building.

Sacred Heart School is proud to claim we are a small school with lots of advantages! Students share responsibility and help each other grow in knowledge and confidence while being given the opportunity to use and practice the talents given to them by God.

We invite you to become a part of this long tradition where the children of this community are given the foundations of their faith and academics to become successful in the future.

God bless,

Debbie Reinkemeyer
Principal
